The OTS works through graph density. A note becomes more useful in proportion to how well it’s connected to other notes, and the connections that matter most are the ones that recur: domains, fields, traditions. The problem is that those recurring connections have to exist as notes before they can serve as link targets, and if you create them ad hoc as you go, you end up with “Philosophy of Religion” in one note and “philosophy of religion” in another, fragmenting the graph for no good reason. The Discipline Pack solves this by giving you the canonical set up front. The graph densifies because everything points to the same nodes, and the nodes themselves are stable enough to build on.

The pack also reflects a deliberate choice about what not to include. Schools of thought (Thomism, Existentialism, Reformed Theology) are not disciplines and don’t belong here. Narrower subfields (Hamartiology, Egyptology, Lower Criticism) are real but specialized enough that most users wouldn’t reach for them as primary associations. Both are better grown organically as the vault is used than seeded universally.
